Dear Partner.
This is to inform you that prepaid meters under the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) will stop accepting old tokens on the 1st of August 2023. This means that all old tokens must be used before then.
Additionally, when customers purchase tokens from you from August 1, 2023, they will receive two Key Change Tokens (KCT1 & KCT2). These KCTs will be used to upgrade their prepaid meters.
Please encourage your customers to upgrade their meters as soon as possible to avoid having any issues.
Below are the steps to upgrade the prepaid meters:
1) You will receive 3 tokens when you buy a token from August 1, 2023. The first 2 are the key change tokens and the 3rd (last) is your purchased electricity token.
2) Enter the key change tokens: On your meter, enter the two KCTs (KCT1 & KCT2) one after the other, then the 3rd token, which is your electricity token.
3) Your meter upgrade is now complete!
Please note that this upgrade will happen only once and all other electricity token purchases will follow the normal single token process. Getting a KCT is also free and does not affect the current electricity tariff.
